Introduction
Couples can marry outside on the lawn or inside Deer Park Barn, before moving through to The Barn for the wedding breakfast. With two adjoining barns, a landscaped lawn and terrace immediately outside, each part of the day feels connected while still offering a different setting.
As one of Burley Manor’s recommended wedding suppliers, we know the venue well and have worked across both ceremony options as well as the wedding breakfast space.
Our wedding florals are designed around that flow, helping you decide where flowers will make the greatest impact, which pieces can move between spaces and where styling such as candlelight, runners and signage can add another layer.
Why we love Burley Manor
Burley Manor has warmth and character without needing to be overstyled.
The exposed timber, white walls, brickwork and natural light within the barns give flowers plenty to work with, while the lawn and surrounding New Forest setting bring a softer, more relaxed atmosphere outside.
What we particularly like is the contrast between the spaces. Deer Park Barn feels light and airy for the ceremony, while The Barn has a stronger, richer character for the wedding breakfast, with its brick chimneys, timber beams and long views through the room.
Why Choose Petals & Posies for Your Burley Manor Wedding?
Knowing the venue first hand makes a real difference at Burley Manor.
We have created flowers for both lawn ceremonies and Deer Park Barn ceremonies, styled the fireplaces, dressed ceremony aisles, supplied candlelight and designed wedding breakfast flowers throughout The Barn.
We also manage the movement of flowers between the ceremony and wedding breakfast ourselves, which allows suitable arrangements to be repurposed rather than left behind once the ceremony is complete.
As one of Burley Manor’s recommended suppliers, we understand how the spaces work together and where flowers will genuinely earn their place.
Our wedding styling service can then bring in candlelight, table runners, welcome signs, seating plans, lanterns and other selected details alongside the flowers.
Two Ways to Hold Your Ceremony
Burley Manor gives couples the choice of marrying outside on the lawn or indoors in Deer Park Barn.
The two settings feel very different, so we approach them differently.
An outdoor ceremony can be softer and more garden led, using freestanding flowers that sit naturally within the lawn and planting.
Inside Deer Park Barn, the beams, white walls, fireplace and long central aisle become part of the design, allowing the flowers and candlelight to create a more defined ceremony setting.
Whichever option you choose, we can plan the flowers with the next part of the day in mind.
Outdoor Ceremonies on the Lawn
The lawn outside the barns creates an intimate outdoor ceremony setting that still feels closely connected to the rest of the venue.
We have previously styled ceremonies here using our wooden arbour as the main focal point, with meadow boxes positioned through the aisle and flowers for the signing of the register.
Because the lawn sits directly beside the barns and terrace, the ceremony does not feel separate from the rest of the day. Guests can move naturally into the drinks reception afterwards without a long transition.
Ceremonies in Deer Park Barn
Deer Park Barn offers a light, open ceremony setting with exposed beams, white walls and a long central aisle.
Rather than relying on one single focal point, the room can be styled in layers.
We have used chair-end flowers, meadow arrangements, candles in glass cylinders, signing-table flowers and fireplace styling to build the ceremony setting without overwhelming the architecture.
That flexibility allows the design to be as understated or as abundant as you would like.
A lighter approach may use simple flowers through the aisle and delicate styling around the signing table, while a fuller design can bring in larger arrangements and more substantial fireplace flowers.
Styling the Fireplace in Deer Park Barn
The fireplace in Deer Park Barn gives us another strong floral opportunity.
We have styled it in very different ways, from smaller bud vases and candlelight through to full, abundant floral arrangements across the mantel.
Because the fireplace is part of the wider room rather than always being the single ceremony backdrop, its role can be adjusted according to the rest of your design.
For some weddings, it becomes the main floral statement. For others, it works more quietly alongside the signing table, aisle and candlelight.
We can also design suitable fireplace flowers so they can be moved into The Barn afterwards and restyled around one of its two fireplaces.
From Ceremony to Wedding Breakfast
One of Burley Manor’s strengths is how easily suitable flowers can continue into the next part of the day.
While guests enjoy the drinks reception, we can move and restyle selected arrangements from either the lawn or Deer Park Barn into The Barn.
The wooden arbour can be given another position, meadow arrangements can move from the ceremony aisle, and suitable fireplace flowers can be transferred into the wedding breakfast space.
Because we manage the flower movement ourselves, each arrangement can be positioned deliberately rather than simply carried into the next room.
Our guide to repurposing wedding flowers from ceremony to reception explains why planning these second positions from the beginning can make such a difference.
Wedding Breakfast Flowers in The Barn
The Barn has a warmer, richer feel than Deer Park Barn, with exposed timber, brickwork and two fireplaces, one at either end of the room.
The space works with different table layouts, from long banqueting tables to grouped rectangular tables, so the flowers need to respond to the way the room is actually being used.
We have created wedding breakfast designs here using bud vases, lower floral arrangements, raised gold stands and a combination of heights across the room.
The top table can then be given additional emphasis with its own floral arrangement, while repurposed ceremony flowers can be positioned around the fireplaces or other focal areas.
Flowers Along the Tables
The wooden tables in The Barn are a strong part of the room’s character, so we generally prefer to work with them rather than hide them.
Bud vases and smaller floral arrangements can create a relaxed rhythm along long tables, while foliage and runners can add movement between the flowers.
Where more height is wanted, raised arrangements on slim gold stands work particularly well. They introduce floral impact above the table while keeping sightlines open underneath.
A mix of raised and lower flowers can be especially effective, creating variation across the room without making every table feel identical.
Candlelight and Styling in The Barn
Candlelight works beautifully against the timber, brickwork and warm lighting within The Barn.
We have incorporated taper candles, candles in glass cylinders and smaller candle vessels alongside the flowers, using different heights to add depth to the tables.
Table runners can soften the wooden surfaces, while welcome signs, seating plans and lanterns can carry the same styling direction into the other areas guests encounter.
The aim is not to fill every surface, but to choose the elements that add something to the room and support the floral design.
Our wedding styling service allows these details to be planned at the same time as your flowers.
Bridal and Wedding Party Flowers
The bridal and wedding party flowers are designed as part of the same overall direction as the venue.
We hand deliver the bridal bouquet and bridesmaids’ flowers directly to the preparation room, with buttonholes, corsages and other wedding party flowers included where required.
The same colours, flowers and textures can then continue naturally into the ceremony and wedding breakfast.
If you are still deciding which flowers you may need, our wedding flowers checklist provides a useful guide.
Lawn Games and the Drinks Reception
The lawn outside the barns is well suited to relaxed outdoor games during the drinks reception.
Our collection includes Giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four, bean bag toss, Hearts and Kisses and coconut shy.
The final position would be agreed with Burley Manor according to the ceremony layout, terrace use and the way the lawn is being used on the day.
