Introduction

Having worked at Clock Barn many times, we understand how the venue changes throughout the day, from the ceremony and drinks reception through to the wedding breakfast and evening celebration.

Indoor ceremonies are particularly well suited to natural, garden-inspired flowers that soften the timber surroundings, while outdoor ceremonies on the Farmhouse Lawn allow the surrounding countryside and gardens to become part of the setting.

Our wedding florals are planned around your chosen ceremony space, wedding season and colour palette, helping you decide where flowers will create the greatest impact and how suitable arrangements can continue into the wedding breakfast afterwards.

Why we love Clock Barn

We love Clock Barn because it offers so many opportunities to create a wedding that feels personal, relaxed and beautifully considered.

The character of the barn works naturally with seasonal flowers, textured foliage, candlelight and soft styling. The Farmhouse Lawn creates a different setting for outdoor ceremonies, while the Paddock provides space for guests to enjoy lawn games during the drinks reception.

It is also a venue where thoughtful flower repurposing works particularly well. The room reset after an indoor ceremony allows suitable floral designs and styling details to continue creating impact during the wedding breakfast.

Why Choose Petals & Posies for Your Clock Barn Wedding?

Our first-hand experience of Clock Barn means we understand not only how flowers look within the venue, but how they need to work as the day progresses.

We have created ceremony flowers, table arrangements, candle styling and larger floral installations at Clock Barn, as well as managing the movement and repositioning of suitable arrangements following the ceremony.

We also understand the venue’s practical requirements around candles, larger installations and end-of-evening collection, allowing these details to be considered during the planning rather than dealt with on the wedding day.

Where you would like flowers, candlelight and decorative elements considered together, our wedding styling service can sit alongside your florals under one creative direction.

How a Wedding Flows Through Clock Barn

For many Clock Barn weddings, the ceremony takes place inside the barn before the room is transformed for the wedding breakfast.

Once the ceremony has finished, guests move into the surrounding reception spaces and outside areas while the venue team resets the barn.

This creates an important opportunity to reuse suitable ceremony flowers.

A long and low arrangement from the signing table can become the top table arrangement. Floral pillars can remain as a backdrop or be repositioned around the top table or cake, while meadow arrangements can move to the front of the top table, cake area or entrance.

Indoor Ceremony Flowers at Clock Barn

The warm timber and height of Clock Barn create a strong ceremony setting before any flowers are added.

Our approach is therefore to use flowers to soften and define the ceremony rather than covering the character of the barn.

Floral pillars, broken arches, pedestals and other statement arrangements can create a clear focal point at the ceremony end, while meadow flowers can bring a natural garden-inspired feel along the aisle.

Lighter floral details can also be incorporated where a more understated ceremony is preferred.

The most effective designs are usually those that feel properly proportioned to the barn and have been planned with their later position in the wedding breakfast in mind.

Outdoor Ceremonies on the Farmhouse Lawn

The Farmhouse Lawn provides a very different ceremony setting, with the gardens and countryside already creating much of the backdrop.

We therefore prefer to use flowers to frame the ceremony rather than overfill the space.

Floral pillars, arches, urns, pedestals and meadow arrangements can all work well, depending on the scale and style of your ceremony.

Aisle flowers can be used to introduce colour and movement through the lawn, while a stronger floral feature at the ceremony end helps draw the eye towards the vows.

Because outdoor flowers are exposed to the weather, the design, flowers and mechanics are considered carefully according to the season and conditions expected on the day.

Making Your Ceremony Flowers Work Across the Day

Clock Barn is particularly well suited to planned floral repurposing because the ceremony and wedding breakfast often use the same main space.

Where suitable, we can design arrangements with a second position in mind from the beginning.

A signing table arrangement can move directly onto the top table. Meadow arrangements can sit in front of the top table or around the cake, while floral pillars can frame the top table, cake or another focal point.

Pedestal arrangements can also be repositioned where their design and mechanics make this practical.

Considering these movements during the initial floral design means the arrangements work visually in both positions and can be moved safely within the available reset time.

Our guide to repurposing wedding flowers from ceremony to reception explains more about how ceremony flowers can be designed to continue into the wedding breakfast.

Wedding Breakfast Flowers in the Barn

Once the ceremony space has been reset, Clock Barn takes on a warmer and more intimate feel for the wedding breakfast.

Table flowers can range from collections of bud vases and low arrangements to taller centrepieces, depending on your table layout, colour palette and the overall level of floral impact you would like.

The timber surroundings already bring considerable character to the room, so every table does not necessarily need the same scale of arrangement.

A considered mix of designs can create variation while allowing greater investment to be directed towards the top table and other areas guests will notice most.

Our guide to styling wedding tables without overcrowding them explores how flowers, candlelight and practical dining space can work together.

Candlelight at Clock Barn

Candlelight works particularly well against the warm timber of Clock Barn and can change the atmosphere of the room as daylight fades.

Real candles can be used on the round dining tables in the Main Barn where they meet the venue’s current requirements, including suitable sturdy or enclosed holders and a maximum of five candles per table.

Battery-operated candlelight is required in areas including the Stable Room and Dance Floor, and candles cannot be positioned around the outside walls of the barn.

We consider these venue requirements when designing your table styling so the candlelight feels intentional rather than added afterwards.

Our wedding styling service includes candlelight and other selected decorative details that can be planned alongside your flowers.

Barn Draping and Additional Styling

The character of Clock Barn means it does not need to be heavily decorated, but selected styling details can change the atmosphere of the space.

Petals & Posies can provide barn draping where you would like to introduce additional softness and movement against the timber structure.

Candlelight, table runners, signage and carefully chosen decorative pieces can then be considered alongside the flowers rather than as separate additions.

Our wedding styling service allows these elements to be planned together so they feel naturally connected to the venue and the overall direction of your wedding.

Lawn Games in the Paddock

The Paddock provides a natural space for lawn games during the drinks reception.

Our collection includes Giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four, bean bag toss, Hearts and Kisses and coconut shy, allowing guests to enjoy a relaxed activity while the barn is being prepared for the wedding breakfast.

Lawn games can be delivered and positioned as part of the wider setup and collected afterwards alongside our other hire items.

You can explore them alongside our other wedding finishing details.

A Real Clock Barn Wedding

Our work at Clock Barn includes Georgie and Ollie’s light-filled early spring wedding, where soft whites and fresh greens were used to bring natural movement and texture into the warm barn setting.

Their wedding included personal flowers and table centrepieces, with glass cylinders and candlelight adding warmth to the wedding breakfast.

Collection After Your Clock Barn Wedding

Our collection arrangements depend on the size and type of hire items included within your wedding.

Smaller items such as bud vases, candle holders and stands can usually be collected the following morning. Clock Barn has a designated storage area where suitable items can be placed ready for collection.

Larger pieces that cannot remain overnight, including floral pillars, urn structures, arbours and lawn games, are normally collected at the end of the evening.

Where an evening collection is required, we typically return at around 11.30 pm to midnight, allowing the main celebration to continue before the larger items are removed.

All collection arrangements are agreed with you and the venue in advance.
